Full Circle

Have you ever had part of your life come full circle?
For many, it happens with the birth of a child or grandchild and the feeling that your life has completed a full circle. For Tom and I, that actual event has not happened yet .... yet.

As a teacher, an ART TEACHER .... it has happened when I find out that a former student of mine has become a teacher .... and not just any teacher but an ART TEACHER.

There are several former students that I am still in touch with (not as often as I would like). Kim, Scott, Carollee, Amy, Emily, Tara, Lorel to name a few off the top of my ol' brain.

Today, one of my student/ART TEACHER returned for a refresher course in WATERCOLOR BASICS.
We were able to catch up a bit about what she is doing while we painted. She will have been a teacher for 11 years .... goodness!
As she was talking about teaching she said there are many times she hears herself telling the students things that I told her years ago. I had to think about that for a few seconds but it sank in that this is a great compliment ...
She plans to return when she is in town again. Watercolor is not her favorite painting medium but she did fine during the lesson. I am anxious to see what she works on be between now and then.
When we said good by, she still called me by my teacher name ... some things never change.

Tiger Lily - Sign of summer!!!

I had a great time today teaching in the studio - completed a lesson in drawing trees, painting three types of lilies and specifically a tiger lily. I may post my students' work later, it is a good lesson and they will complete their paintings next week.

It is sunny out and I am headed out to visit with my aunt at the nursing home and then on home for fresh sweet corn and tomatoes for dinner.

I hope you all are feeling better ... I know I am.

Day #2 - Up earlier than usual!!

I made it out of bed earlier than usual again this morning ... 2nd day in a row!!!
It is beautiful and I said yesterday I would share a visual. The yard is so green and the long shadows are interesting.

The Sunflower will be the subject for a Saturday workshop on August 29. Want to join us??

I had a great day of teaching! Drawing and color studies for most of the students but one student and I made little air clay fishes! What fun!!!!
