Great success and lots of laughter!
My group of four students gathered this morning and worked through my lesson ... they came up with several great watercolors. I talked with them about realism and abstract designs. Some of them stayed with the abstracts and some worked all the way through to a realistic image.
We laughed at the things we said and the observations we were able to make from each others work.
It was a great lesson and one I hope they all try at home!
Workshops and classes are meant to inspire not to be the end all.
Keep those brushes wet!

I can now walk away from the Easter Pear!!!
Easter Pear?

I like pears better than eggs!!!
Easter Pear Step 1

Step 1 - I thought this would be enough ... silly me!
Easter Pear Step 2

Step 2 - I wanted to add a bit of EGG Whimsy.
Easter Pear Step 3

Step 3 - It wouldn't be mine if there weren't any cast shadows.
Easter Pear Step 4

Step 4 - And I love a good implied table line ... don't you??
Easter Pear Step 5

Step 5 - Oh, better kick up the value a bit!
Easter Pear Step 6

Step 6 - The background could use a value shift.
Easter Pear Step 7

Step 7 - Add, of course we need a bit of implied texture!
Yes, I agree. Workshops/classes are meant to inspire and not be the end all. It should be a bouncing off point so that we can continue to find our own voice. I also enjoy teaching because I get to learn from my students... I like the projects from your class. Looks like fun!

ReplyDeletewe did have a fun time ... and I too learn from my students ... their questions make me think and communicate basic info that helps them to paint more confidently.
Sounds like you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteI need to get all this sewing done so I can get back to painting......pooey!
