My glass is half full ... of rain water!!
As creative thinkers we need to see the beauty of the things around us. I know that the rain can cause problems. I have to over look the stream of water in my basement and the old towels soaking up the moisture but this to shall pass (or dry up)! Looking for the beauty around us is what makes us special.
I stood on the porch this morning with my cup of tea and took the time to listen to the rain hit the leaves in the garden ... gently plunking down on the different shapes and sizes of green patches... my eye started to follow the movement of the bouncing leaves and I could imagine little fairies or pixies jumping from one leave to another. Perhaps this idea will be the theme of my studio work today - PLAYING in the rain.
As I made a dash to the car, I stopped to photo some of the bright yellow maple leaves on our driveway - I must already have 100+ photos of this image. I love the shine of the dark wet black surface and the many colors of the leaves... this morning I also see that there is a value shift in the black.
What a great lesson that is for ME. I tend to use too much dark in my back grounds and just fill the negative areas with the same dark value. I need to remember that nature shows us to add variety!
Look for the beauty in even the grayest of rainy days - it's there!

I am so glad you posted this because I just got in from a jaunt in the yard---no boots, no jacket, just umbrella and camera, cold and taking pictures. It was too much to resist!
ReplyDeleteWet leaves are so completely different than dry---the color pops!
