Still painting and working out the finishing touches on two of the three paintings I started Monday. The third one has eluded me ... going to approach it tomorrow with a fresh mind!
I believe these two are very close to being completed ... and I would welcome comments from any of you if you see design problems. I have one area on both pieces that I think needs attention. I have my plan laid out in my mind but it is always interesting to hear what others think. I will post the finished photos tomorrow and you can see if you suggested what I have planned. Who knows, after a good nights sleep, I may change my mind (smile).
It has been fun and challenging to work large and with full bodied acrylic .... very painterly. I still like my watercolors best but it feels good to layer on the paint.
Don't shy away from a task just because it is not what you are used to ... find the fun in it and you will learn.

Ta - da!!!!

I can now walk away from the Easter Pear!!!
Easter Pear?

I like pears better than eggs!!!
Easter Pear Step 1

Step 1 - I thought this would be enough ... silly me!
Easter Pear Step 2

Step 2 - I wanted to add a bit of EGG Whimsy.
Easter Pear Step 3

Step 3 - It wouldn't be mine if there weren't any cast shadows.
Easter Pear Step 4

Step 4 - And I love a good implied table line ... don't you??
Easter Pear Step 5

Step 5 - Oh, better kick up the value a bit!
Easter Pear Step 6

Step 6 - The background could use a value shift.
Easter Pear Step 7

Step 7 - Add, of course we need a bit of implied texture!
Teri, the only area I see I would want sometime in is right on the right, under the poppy petal where above is extremely dark and below white. My eye keeps niggling there..... ;) professional term, you know?
ReplyDeleteLove the COLOR!!!!
Thanks Anne
ReplyDeleteI love the term niggling ... perhaps a slight value shift is needed there.
the piece is 30 x 30 canvas ... it has been fun!!
