Sunflowers on a gray Monday!

I was lucky enough to work with 2 favorite students today ... we worked with colored pencils and sunflowers!
It was a gray Monday, overcast and gloomy, a perfect day to go back to school (couldn't play out side). I thought the bright yellow sunflower would be a great subject. It was a good lesson, as we reviewed many of the things that we had learned over the summer and I introduced the idea of layers of colors. It was the first day back to school for this student but we had fun with the after school session ... I even let them stay a bit longer to get their projects completed.

My student and her grandmother have been coming to art classes all summer and their skill levels have improved and their confidence has increased... so much that their 10 AM classes are now 3 PM after school classes.

Keep at it friends, we all need practice and encouragement and more practice!

  1. You just have to love the sunflowers. They seem to always bring a smile. Your students did a great job!

  2. Graceful ... thank you! I will be using sunflowers for several of my classes and projects this time of year. Like you said, you just have to love sunflowers.
