Making the most of my time!
Yesterday, a friend and I walked to an art group meeting.
We talked and photographed flowers in bloom along our walk both to and from the meeting. I think everyone should keep a camera close by and snap away. I take reference photos that sometimes turn out great; my friend takes quality photos that she sometimes uses to reference a painting.
What is the difference, you ask (go ahead, ask????)......she takes the time to focus, light balance, set f stops and takes even more time. I, on the other hand, do what I jokingly refer to as "drive by shootings." I click on the move, snap on the run, click now, delete later! But we both use our cameras to record ideas. The white peony is my photo and I WILL BE creating a painting of this subject very soon.
The purpose of our walk was to get us to the meeting - a gathering of artist in search of each other. Some were over confident, some were shy and hesitant, most were pretty mellow and laid back.
In attendance there was
1 sculptor
2 graphic designers
1 air brush artist
2 painter/teacher
4 painter/beginner
1 color pencil artist
1 pen and ink artist
1 pastel and dry tempera
1 wood carver
1 administrator/artist
We shared our thoughts and ideas for future gathering, ate a few snacks and visited amongst ourselves. The new show of art on the gallery walls held most of our attention.
It was time well spent, will I go again? Maybe, probably, I will tell you next month. I like to be around other artists so I will place it on my calendar and see what the mood is.

That really sounds fun to me. I wish we had something like that here...hmmm maybe I should start it.
