I want to talk about other artists ... sharing the images that have caught my eye on Etsy and connect with others.
This week I will link to several artists who's work I admire and talk about why I like the pieces I post here. I also hope that the artist replies and adds insight. I may be way off in my comments ... it will be interesting conversation ... please join in..
This acrylic painting found on a front page treasury by Shelby Healey is very fresh and painterly. It looks spontaneous and intuitive, not over worked. When approaching a subject like architecture I tend to get rigid and reach for a ruler. This piece communicates the feeling of the rows of buildings or houses without getting tight.
I think looking at art, all kinds of art is educational ... especially when we talk about the art and the techniques being used by the artist.

Rare day.....
Today was a rare day ... too tired to be creative (late night last night) so I decided to clean! Yes, clean, put away, tidy up, sort and even threw a bit away.
For those who don't know me well, this is a rarity. My DH told people to just stay away from me and not interrupt ... he didn't know how long it would last but he liked it.
I tried earlier in the summer to clean for 15 minutes every morning ... that helped for a while ... but August was a whirl wind of activity and the piles we bothering even me.
Hopefully, this "urge to purge" will last through my next task ... the storage closet... if you don't hear from me in the next few days ... send in the rescue squad.

Buzz Day #4 - final work!
My newspaper horoscope (I read this every morning, just in case) says "Keep everything moving forward regardless of the hurdles. Once you put the finishing touches on what you're trying to accomplish, the end results should be to your liking." How insightful .... interesting that the newspaper knew I was finishing this series of paintings today ... they must be one of my followers!
I believe I am finished with two out of the three and the third one is near completion. I will look at it again with a fresh eye in the morning. I am disappointed that the entire image doesn't show up on the blog page... guess you'll just have to see them in person in INDY!
Then packing them all in the van and headed to INDY with them for the Art Walk on Mass Ave.

Buzz - Day #3
Still painting and working out the finishing touches on two of the three paintings I started Monday. The third one has eluded me ... going to approach it tomorrow with a fresh mind!
I believe these two are very close to being completed ... and I would welcome comments from any of you if you see design problems. I have one area on both pieces that I think needs attention. I have my plan laid out in my mind but it is always interesting to hear what others think. I will post the finished photos tomorrow and you can see if you suggested what I have planned. Who knows, after a good nights sleep, I may change my mind (smile).
It has been fun and challenging to work large and with full bodied acrylic .... very painterly. I still like my watercolors best but it feels good to layer on the paint.
Don't shy away from a task just because it is not what you are used to ... find the fun in it and you will learn.

Day #2 of the Buzz
Work continues on the three new pieces ... I was not able to focus on them 100% as I was in the Brick and Mortar by myself today ... DH is on the golf course (a well deserved break for him).
I really like the small abstract, the poppies are coming along but I totally scrubbed out the blue splatter piece and have to rethink it for tomorrow.
Never give up!!!!

I can now walk away from the Easter Pear!!!
Easter Pear?
I like pears better than eggs!!!
Easter Pear Step 1
Step 1 - I thought this would be enough ... silly me!
Easter Pear Step 2
Step 2 - I wanted to add a bit of EGG Whimsy.
Easter Pear Step 3
Step 3 - It wouldn't be mine if there weren't any cast shadows.
Easter Pear Step 4
Step 4 - And I love a good implied table line ... don't you??
Easter Pear Step 5
Step 5 - Oh, better kick up the value a bit!
Easter Pear Step 6
Step 6 - The background could use a value shift.
Easter Pear Step 7
Step 7 - Add, of course we need a bit of implied texture!
